Brick proxyPrivacy policy
Brick proxy (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a Mac app that routes your traffic through a proxy you supply. We run no servers in the path and offer no account. This policy explains what the app does with your data.
1. Introduction
The app wraps every connection on your Mac into a SOCKS5, HTTP or HTTPS proxy that you enter yourself. There are no Brick servers between you and that proxy.
2. Information we collect
What the app stores on your devices, and in your iCloud Keychain if it is turned on:
- Proxy configurations — address, port, login and password for each proxy you add, and the profiles they belong to.
Checking for updates, downloading the app, using this website and writing to support involve the small amount of data described in sections 7 to 9.
3. How your information is used
- Proxy credentials are used for one thing: connecting to the proxy you entered.
- Nothing is used for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions, and nothing is sold, rented or traded.
4. Data storage and security
Your iCloud Keychain. Each profile, with its proxy address, login and password, is kept as one item in the Keychain. If iCloud Keychain is turned on, Apple syncs these items to your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account, end-to-end encrypted: neither we nor Apple can read them. If it is turned off, they stay on the Mac where you entered them. We never receive a copy.
While a proxy is connected, macOS also keeps a copy of its address, login and password in the app’s VPN configuration, where the app’s network extension reads it. The copy is written when you connect and removed when you disconnect. One exception: if you quit the app while connected, the tunnel stops right away, but the copy is removed the next time you open the app.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, trade or rent your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
6. Proxy servers
The app connects through proxies that you supply. We do not provide, sell, host or recommend proxies.
Whoever runs your proxy carries your traffic and can see it to the same extent any network operator could. What they log and what they do with it is between you and them; read their terms. You use third-party proxies at your own risk, and we are not responsible for their speed, security or legality.
7. Checking a proxy
To check a proxy, the app opens a connection through that proxy and asks a public address-lookup service what IP it sees. Some such services also report the country, city and network operator of that address.
Because the request travels through the proxy, what the service sees is the proxy’s exit address, not your Mac’s. It may log that address under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
The same check sends a probe to your proxy to find out whether it carries UDP; that one goes no further than the proxy.
8. Updates and downloads
The app downloads updates from dl.br-ck.app using Sparkle, an open-source update library — the only third-party code in the app. It checks for a new version automatically only if you allow it when the app asks; Check for Updates in the menu checks by hand.
A check is a single request for the list of versions. It carries no information about your Mac, your proxies or your use of the app: Sparkle’s optional system profile is turned off. Like any download, the request reaches Cloudflare, which serves dl.br-ck.app and sees your IP address and user agent.
Installing with Homebrew fetches the install recipe from GitHub and the app itself from dl.br-ck.app.
9. This website and email
br-ck.app is served by Cloudflare, which receives your IP address, user agent and the page you requested in order to answer it, and keeps request records briefly for operations and security. These pages load no fonts, scripts or images from anywhere else, set no cookies, and contain no analytics.
Mail to support@br-ck.app is delivered to a mailbox hosted by Proton and used for nothing but answering you. Send only what you would want read — in particular, never send a proxy password. We cannot use it and do not want it.
10. Your rights and choices
- Deletion — deleting a profile in the app removes it from your iCloud Keychain and from your other devices. There is no account to delete, because there is none.
- Updates — whether the app checks for updates on its own is your choice, made when it first asks.
- Your mail — ask us to delete a support thread and we will.
- Complaints — if you believe your data has been mishandled, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
11. Third-party services
- Cloudflare — serves this website and the downloads at dl.br-ck.app.
- Proton — hosts the support mailbox.
- GitHub — hosts the Homebrew install recipe.
- Telegram — hosts the community group, if you choose to join it; what you post there is governed by Telegram’s terms.
- Apple — syncs your iCloud Keychain, if you turn it on.
No analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks or tracking pixels are included in the app.
12. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13.
